KFS Kanal-Service AG, with locations in Oensingen and Payerne, counts sewer rehabilitation, sewer inspections and sewer cleaning among its main areas of expertise. The teams are on the road throughout Switzerland to maintain public and private sewer networks.
In small sewer systems that are inaccessible to humans, working robots are used. They are installed via the existing inspection shafts. These milling and filling robots, equipped with a camera, use their milling tools to remove mortar, lime and other hard deposits from the sewer walls so that the pipes regain their original shape and diameter. Such milling work serves the next work step, the sewer rehabilitation. The industrious helpers can be conveniently controlled from inside the vehicle.

The trucks are equipped with an electric chain hoist from the Swiss manufacturer GIS so that the robots, which can weigh up to 120 kg, can be transported effortlessly over the shaft structures down into the canal and back up to daylight after the work is done. The GPM250 unit was supplied in a single-phase alternating current version so that it can be fed directly into the power supply system of the emergency vehicle. Since most of the work takes place outdoors and in all weather conditions, it is an advantage that the electric chain hoist has IP65 protection as standard (dust-tight and protection against water jets), which means that rain and storms cannot harm it.
