Two lightweights for mobile use

As a supplement to the D8 Plus motors, which have enjoyed a successful introduction to market, GIS - Switzerland’s only electric chain hoist manufacturer - is set to launch two new D8 models in 2020.

As a supplement to the D8 Plus motors, which have enjoyed a successful introduction to market, GIS - Switzerland’s only electric chain hoist manufacturer - is set to launch two new D8 models in 2020. The extremely low net weight of the two motors, in relation to their lifting capacities of 500 kg and 1000 kg respectively, is astonishing.

With the two new models, the requirements of riggers for the development of the lightest possible chain hoists has been fully satisfied. Both motors are capable of lifting over 40 times their own weight. The LPML weighs a modest 12 kg (20 kg with 18 m lifting height) and delivers a lifting capacity of half a ton. The larger model LPL lifts 1000 kg, and when fully equipped for an 18 m lifting height weighs in at just 39 kg.

The LPL series designed in accordance with EN14492 and DIN56950 was developed for the entertainment industry and tailored to its requirements. Both motors are highly robust yet still light, thanks to the aluminium housing and covers. The design of the chain hoists in accordance with protection class IP65 as standard protects them against dust and water jets. This makes them ideal for both mobile and outdoor use.

In comparison to a round steel chain, the case-hardened profile steel chain offers approx. 15 % more capacity with the same nominal diameter. This is one of the main reasons behind the optimisation of the net weight. The skeleton load hook with stable, guided hook safety catch and damping system offers maximum safety.
A second independent DC spring-loaded brake can be mounted on the existing shaft in just a few steps. Further options include low voltage control, limit switch for highest and lowest hook position, load and path measurement (LPL), trolleys, flight cases and controls.

Thanks to the compact design, both the LPML and the LPL fit optimally in conventional cross beams. Transporting these chain hoists from one event to the next can therefore take place whilst still installed to save space, or in a transport case. The flight case with its small external dimensions of 800 x 630 x 630 mm accommodates four LPML motors, each with a lifting capacity of 500 kg.

Particular attention was paid during development to modularity and low maintenance requirements with ready accessibility of the wearing parts. For example, the newly designed 2-part wear plate can be simply replaced without disassembling the chain.

The chain hoists LPML and LPL for 500 kg and 1000 kg are light, robust, weather-proof and durable. As such, GIS offers an extended product guarantee of 3 years.
